Hi,

I've encountered error on my Windows Media Player when I've tried to play videos. MOV, MP4, all formats cannot be played.

The error occured after I accidentally turn off my laptop Windows 7 OS while it is performing system updates.

The media player was working fine before that.

I've tried everything :

Uninstall and reinstall - https://www.lifewire.com/uninstall-or-reinstall-windows-media-player-12-2438891 --> failed

Restoring default setting - https://www.lifewire.com/restoring-default-settings-in-windows-media-player-12-2438897 --> failed

My Windows Media Player still failed to play any videos even after performing the steps above.

When I click to play the video, the media player will open and straight away prompted the error message " Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file."

When I clicked on the Web Help for the error message, it directed to the page below. "You got an error message while using Windows Media Player. Unfortunately, specific info about the error isn't currently available."
