Windows 10 Windows security update breaks Logitech SetPoint

Twice in two days, automated Windows Updates have forced a restart at 2AM; and in doing so have broken my Logitech SetPoint driver installation. The first time the restore point failed and I nearly lost my Windows installation; but it came back up in recovery mode. The culprit seems to be the most recent Security Update from Microsoft. Why is Microsoft pushing security updates that disable WHQL'd drivers and compromise system integrity when removed?
