Error Code 8024200D with Windows 7 X86 and X64 platforms.
I have been working on this issue for several computer systems and I hope my post will help those in need of a real solution.
I can go about my history but I will cut through the chase.
The SHA-2 update for SSE-2 (KB4474419) "Chromium" fix is the issue with not being able to update. Even after installation and you find you cannot update no matter what you do.
You must uninstall the (KB4474419) and run update as normal.
Reason for this is there must be some corruption created post-installation of that particular fix. One thing is fixed another update comes along and something goes wrong.
Back to what I was saying...
In order to do this run CMD in administrator mode. Then at the prompt type this:
wusa /uninstall /KB:4474419
Once done, reboot and run Windows update as normal.
I have seen many complicated solutions to this fix, but this is the actual problem.
Hopefully I have helped many end-users in need for a solution.
Edit:
The Athlon XP does NOT have SSE-2 instructions and if you install (KB4474419) the machine will crash,.
The best solution is to not install (KB4474419) (or any future updates) at all if you are using a non-SSE-2 processor.
