I have a laptop that will not update properly. I have reinstalled Windows twice now, even on a clean install Windows Update refuses to work properly. I boot the PC and svchost goes to 98-100% usage and nothing happens for hours. I have to disable automatic updates just to be able to load a web browser which is ridiculous to begin-with but Microsoft can't fix this after 5 years apparently (vista had the same damn problems). I installed every "fix" for this, makes absolutely no difference and after 2 days straight of trying to install updates, I've managed to get SOME to install, others fail and hours go by when nothing is even happening in the Windows Update log file? WHAT IS SVCHOST DOING EXACTLY IF IT'S NOT EVEN SHOWING ANYTHING IN THE LOG FOR THE LAST HOUR?
Why is Microsoft so incompetent at making this basic function of the OS work after YEARS of bugs and "fixes" that don't fix anything.

At the end of the log you will see the last entry is at 14:17PM. I left it running for over an hour, not a single entry was added while svchost churned away at 97%+ cpu usage, but apparently not actually doing ANYTHING? WHAT IS IT DOING??? I stopped the Windows Update service at 15:25PM and you can see at the end of the log it can't even give me a list of anything it found in that entire time of searching. The only time I've gotten it to actually find updates was going to sleep and letting this run overnight, it found like 7 updates and took a couple hours to try and install them but some failed and now I'm back to waiting HOURS just to search for available updates again.
