Windows 11 Windows Update on 11 trying to reinstall intel driver

I did Windows Update today on Windows 11 and a duplicate intel driver was attempting to install. It failed with the code that the driver was already installed. Sure enough I looked at history and it was installed months ago. Now Windows Update just keeps giving the option of retry which keeps failing. The old hide/show tool could have been used to hide the update. The problem is that windows update is not checking for new updates until this gets resolved. I worked with a Microsoft tech for a few hours to no avail. Does anyone know how to remove the update or work around it? Thanks.
